A Video is worth 5 million 760 thousand words
You’ve heard it said that “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Well at 24 frames per second, a 4 minute video contains 5760 pictures. Multiply THAT by one thousand!
Really, what I mean to say is this: All of that beauty, emotion, and extra meaning that can be captured in a picture can also be captured in video. In fact, many times video invokes a deeper emotion or feeling of connection to the subject. The tools that an editor uses – music, color, pacing, transitions, order – add to the meaning of the piece. Promo video for St. Paul’s Catholic Center
This video was produced for St. Paul’s University Catholic Center on the University of Wisconsin – Madison campus. It shares the personal stories of students past and present in order to tell an emotional story. This was shot entirely in downtown Madison, at St. Paul’s and around the campus.
We’re in the badger guide, at the top

We’re getting around to renewing old accounts and signing up for new things. One of these new things we signed up for was The Wisconsin Production Guide aka badgerguide. It’s a great centralized location to find freelancers and production companies for whatever your working on.
The best part is (because we had the foresight to name our company with one of the first letters in the alphabet), we’re at the top. There are no companies that start with A’s or B’s so look for us at the top of ‘Commercial Production Companies’ and ‘Corporate & Video Production Companies.’
Madison Children’s Museum 2011
We recently got the chance to help Madison Children’s Museum celebrate it’s 1st birthday at it’s new location in downtown Madison, WI. This video was produced for MCM’s Wonderball Black-tie event on August 6th. The piece highlights popular exhibits and areas in the museum, explains the positive impact on the surrounding community, and addresses the need for continued support to keep the museum accessible for all who would like to visit.
We would like to visit! You can bet that Ryan and I will be visiting the museum with our families the first chance we get. If the video didn’t convince you, It sure it convinced us.
“Trim” video goes viral!
UPDATE
Petey Boy’s viral video was played this morning on the Today Show as part of their “Webtastic” video segment. Well done yet again!
Our friend Peter “Petey Boy” Simon created this great reverse stop motion of his friend Tom shaving off his beard and hair.
If the video wasn’t cool enough on it’s own, it went viral over night and Peter woke up this morning to features on several well known websites.

Canon 5D Mark II – Best Image: Technicolor Cinestyle vs. Standard

With a DSLR or any other digital video camera you can lose a lot of the detail in a shot if you are not careful. By default some cameras, like the Canon XH A1, have an image that is a bit washed out. The Canon 5D Mark II, on the other hand, has a default image that has more contrast and is much more saturated. So which produces the best picture? Who knows, but here’s what we like.

Backflip now with 100% more 5D Mark II
We followed our own advice and bought a new Canon 5D Mark II. It was hard to get our hands on a new one because of the electronics shortage (due to the earthquake in Japan). I finally found one on ebay at the right price and was able to get it in time for a big shoot in Iowa.
For support we went with Jag35 because the value of their products is unmatched. We purchased their shoulder/tripod rails system with monitor. For sound we snagged up a Zoom H4N from Amazon. We’re waiting on our Jag35 Follow Focus to arrive but after that we’ll just be looking for a matte box to round out our support.
The 5D Mark II captures a stunning image. We’re very happy with it and can’t wait to show the recent work we’ve done. We’re also working on a post that will help you get the best image out of your 5DMII with it’s advanced features and settings so keep your eyes peeled.
2011 Demo Reel
This is our freshly minted demo reel. When assessing our marketing and advertising we realized our demo was in desperate need of an update.
Everything on our demo was shot and edited by us. We’ve had so many great projects to include but we wanted to keep it short. If a company can’t hook you in the first minute of their reel then maybe they’re not a company you want to work with
This is actually a shorter version. We’ll have a longer version once the music is reworked. Scenes from: 1934, Missing, Haiti Music Video, Wide Awake Conference Videos, Flatt Cola spot.

Video production in Madison Wisconsin… Why??

In conversations with people we are often asked “Why have a video production company in Madison.” The follow up is usually something to the flavor of “Shouldn’t you be in California.” It’s understandable since Madison isn’t known for its video production, but its liberal hippies, cute weasels, and cellular biology. California, on the other hand is the mystical land of movies. Wisconsin winters can sometimes start as early as October (snow for halloween!), and continue into April (it just snowed yesterday). California, much of it, has no idea what winter is. This means in Wisconsin we have a handful of months to shoot outside whereas the Californians can do it almost year round! That said, we don’t operate in Wisconsin because of the weather, we do it because we live here.
